What is VELUM
A veil over your conversations
VELUM is a privacy-first, end-to-end encrypted messenger by MAC4. Like a veil, it keeps your conversations covered — and then lets them vanish. Every message is encrypted on your device and permanently deleted after 24 hours. There are no accounts tied to your identity: no email, no phone number, no real name. Just a random VELUM ID and a display name you choose. What you say stays between you and the person you say it to — and not even we can read it.
Privacy by design
What we never collect
We deliberately collect as little as technically possible. We cannot read your messages or calls, and we do not know who you are.
ECDH P-256 key exchange + AES-256-GCM. Encryption happens on your device before anything is relayed.
Every message and file is permanently removed after 24 hours — no plaintext history to leak.
Voice and video stream directly between devices over WebRTC. Never recorded, never routed through our servers.
Your private key and PIN live only on your phone, in encrypted storage. Screenshots are blocked inside the app.
